Rampage Extreme Reviews

Overclock3d.net :

"Make no bones about it, the ASUS Rampage Extreme is an excellently crafted board. It oozes quality and appeal, and simply begs you to 'clock the nuts off it'. The features that ASUS have engineered into the board are thoughtful and worthwhile, and subsequently make the ASUS Rampage Extreme an ideal candidate as an overclockers board of choice. Sure the features don't quite extend to the insane like the Foxconn BlackOps, but I don't think it was ever meant to be that way. The motherboard provides a highly configurable and tweakable BIOS with components that'll push as hard as you want them to.The ASUS Rampage Extreme provides the perfect balance between form and function - it has killer looks but can push the performance envelope where and when you want it to."

HardwareCanucks :

As we saw, the overclocking potential of this motherboard is not only huge for extreme cooling and benchmarking, but also for making an everyday system lightning quick. The ease with which it climbed front side bus frequency with our hardware was staggering. We fully expected to get great overclocks out of the Rampage Extreme, but even we were impressed with just how well it clocked, and how easily we accomplished everything we did with the board. The BIOS is a bit messy for all of the features and their subsequent options, but the Extreme Tweaker section is bang on to what we want to see for an overclocking section. The inclusion of memory drive strengths would really open the door to further memory tweaking which seems to be the one big fault of the Rampage Extreme right now.

Legit Reviews :

Aside from the simple act of operating as a motherboard, the Rampage Extreme looks like a work of art and could almost be a coffee table centerpiece. Factor in the incredible possibilities available with TweakIt, the discrete audio X-Fi solution, and the massive overclocking potential, it's hard to not want the board. Once again though price becomes an issue; for $400 you can purchase a board and processor. If you are in the market for the best of the best though, the Rampage Extreme is it.

HardOCP :

The Rampage Extreme is definitely one impressive piece of work. ASUS did their homework with this one, including all the bells and whistles and giving it the teeth to match. The heat pipe implementation remains among the best I’ve seen, with the changeable Northbridge and MOSFET coolers icing on the cake. The layout itself was well though-out, with no high spots or tight spots anywhere on the board. And while real-world use of the TweakIt module may be minimal at best, just how cool is it to have an onboard integrated joystick for overclocking.

Techgage :

Let's start with the obvious... the overclocking-ability. ASUS really went to town with the Rampage Extreme, and it's apparent the first time you enter the BIOS. The tweaking-ability caters to both the layman and the hardcore overclocker, and nobody will feel left out. Best of all, even if you feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options available, you can just wimp out (like me) and stick with what you know, and you'll still be able to achieve a great clock.

Past that, the board is covered with more bling than a bad-boy hip-hop artist. Everywhere you look, there's robust-looking heatsinks with cool red shrouds, an RoG emblem that glows even when the PC is turned off, a Northbridge water-block, replacement sinks, the LCD Poster and oh, let's not forget the on-board overclocking controls.

CPU3D :

Asus have produced an almost perfect motherboard. In terms of out of the box performance the Rampage Extreme is in excellent shape. The package is bundled with a collection of accessories that goes some way towards the relatively high retail price. Most people will probably be put off by this, especially when you factor in the cost of DDR3 RAM over DDR2. I think Asus has considered this, and have spent a great deal of time and effort into designing a motherboard that not only pushes the performance envelope, but also looks at design both in terms of function and aesthetics. This board deserves to be on show. A window is a must if the Rampage Extreme is going to be locked away inside a case.
